Women Over 30, Stop Doing These Things NOW!
Once you hit 30, it’s like society hands you a manual with invisible ink. The title? “How to Be a Responsible and Respectable Mature Woman"
It’s packed with gems like:
- “Dress your age!”
- “Don’t be too loud or opinionated.”
- “Stop dreaming, you've achieved all you will achieve in life at this point”
And we’re here to tell you: Toss that nonsense in the recycling bin (because we care about the planet), light a candle, and burn those expectations for good measure.
Ladies, your 30s and beyond aren’t a time to shrink. It’s a time to rise, rebel, and reclaim your unapologetic energy. Let’s break down the things we’re done doing—and how to unapologetically embrace your power, style, and voice.
1. Stop Dressing for Your Age
Ah, the infamous “age-appropriate” style police. Apparently, once you’re over 30, you’re supposed to trade your crop tops for cardigans and your bright colors for beige. Newsflash: We’re not buying it.
Here’s how to rebel:
- Wear what makes you feel powerful (and sexy). Sequins at the grocery store? Yes. A leather jacket to your PTA meeting? Also yes.
- Play with style unapologetically. Love bold prints, clashing colors, or oversized blazers? You don’t need anyone’s approval—just wear it.
- Ignore trends unless they serve you. YOU are the trend. Set it, break it, reinvent it.
And the whole body shaming piece that comes with this concept? It's ok to have cellulite AND wear a mini skirt. We aren't 20 anymore. That's ok! We can look our age AND be sexy!
I practice what I preach! Here I am at 37, with cellulite, wearing a leather mini skirt and I look damn good too! :)
2. Stop Apologizing for Being “Too Much”
Too loud. Too opinionated. Too ambitious. If you’ve been told to tone it down, we say: TURN IT UP. Your boldness is not a flaw—it’s your superpower.
Here’s how to take up space:
- Speak your mind, then let them simmer. No backpedaling. No apologies for making someone uncomfortable with your truth.
- Laugh louder. If someone finds it “too much,” hand them earplugs.
- Be unapologetically ambitious. Your dreams are valid, and you deserve a seat at the table—or to build your own damn table.
3. Stop Caring What “They” Think
“They” always have opinions, don’t they? “They” think you should act more ladylike. “They” think your career choices are questionable. “They” think you should settle down by now. "They" think you should dress more like a mom. Whoever “they” are, it’s time to kick them out of your headspace.
Here’s how to shut out the noise:
- Ask yourself: Who are “they”? Most of the time, the critics are people who don’t pay your bills or build your dreams.
- Prioritize what YOU think. If it feels right to you, it’s the right choice. Full stop.
- Practice radical self-love. When you love yourself unapologetically, outside opinions start to lose their power.
Leather pants on a Thursday afternoon? Why yes, because I don't give a damn if people think it's "too much"!
4. Stop Putting Yourself Last
As women, we’ve been conditioned to be caretakers, nurturers, and people-pleasers. But here’s the truth: You can’t pour from an empty cup, and you deserve to drink first.
Here’s how to put YOU first:
- Schedule your joy. Put your self-care on the calendar—whether it’s yoga, a solo shopping spree, or time to read in peace.
- Say no unapologetically. Protect your time and energy like the queen you are. Don't give energy to events or people that don't fill your cup.
- Celebrate your wins. Big or small, you deserve to pop champagne for your victories.
5. Stop Following “Their” Rules
Society’s rules are boring, outdated, and unfit for a woman who knows her worth. It’s time to throw out the rulebook and make your own.
Here’s how to break the mold:
- Define your own success. Maybe it’s climbing the corporate ladder—or maybe it’s traveling the world. You decide.
- Do the unexpected. Want to switch careers? Start a business? Learn salsa dancing at 40? DO IT.
- Embrace your quirks. Your uniqueness is what makes you unforgettable. Don’t hide it. Flaunt it.
Here’s the Bottom Line:
Your life after 30 isn’t the time to dim your light—it’s your moment to shine brighter than ever. Forget the rules. Forget the expectations. Be bold, be fearless, and most importantly, be YOU.
We’re here to remind you: You don’t need anyone’s permission to own your power, your style, or your voice. Go ahead—shake the table, make them stare, and give zero f*cks while doing it.
You’ve got this, babe. And we’ve got your back.
